David Salvatori
David Salvatori has a passion for Sciences, visual Arts and Nature. The Sea has always been present in the most important moments of his life, but only in recent years he began to practice water sports. Scuba diving arrives by coincidence in 2006, when during a trip to Maldives he met an Italian scuba instructor, Silvia Miccoli. Silvia brought him to dive for the first time, giving a striking key to the reading, the direct relationship with the water becomes soon a powerful channel of communication and introspection. Today going underwater, being in the Sea, means to David becoming for a moment a part of the Sea itself, a small part of a whole which is constantly changing but at the same time in constant equilibrium. He wanted to dedicate this site to this alliance between Man and Nature, and he chose the name “ilmaresonoio” (meaning “the-sea-is-me”) quoting the sentence from the great diver Jacques Mayol that once said: “I have the Sea inside me. the Sea is me.”
Two years after start diving, David started underwater photography as the most suitable way to communicate this new phase of his life. His main interest today is around nature photography and conservation issues, to which he devotes his travels around the world. As an amateur, he spends all of his spare time planning and realizing wildlife photo expeditions. He also loves writing articles on his trips, collaborating with well-known underwater magazines around the world.
During these first 11 years of underwater activity, he has achieved many recognitions and awards in some of the most important international underwater photography and nature photography competitions.
He is member of the Ocean Artist Society, in recognition of awareness-raising activities on behalf of some of the world’s most endangered species.
In 2015 he has published his first photographic book, “Reflections from the Past”, a physical and personal journey to tell a story about his life experience with water.
